On September 19, 2009, my husband's cousin got married. He and his wife to be asked me if I would be interested in taking the photos for their wedding. While incredibly nervous, I was happy to accept the job.

For the photography class that I took last summer, we had to do a project at the end. A series of photos that used all of the skills that we'd learned in the class. I decided to focus on the farms in the area. I find them very picturesque.

I've been taking some photography classes through the park district and last week, our topic was light. Our teacher encouraged us to use black and white, as a means of enhancing the differences in light. Here are the photos that I presented last week.

Constructive Feedback Friday

So, I've decided to try something new today. I've been lurking at I Heart Faces for a while now and have been waiting for the perfect moment to swoop in and introduce myself. The time has come! Today, they are hosting Constructive Feedback Friday. It's an opportunity for amateur photographers to post a photo that they'd like some feedback on from more experienced photographers. How else do you improve without practice and feedback? So, I'm putting this out one out there for some help!

Info about the photo: f/7.1 1/60 sec ISO 400 50 mm

What I'd like to improve upon: 1. Getting the red out! How can I get some of the red out, without making Mel's eyes look like a zombie?

2. Stray hairs - Any tricks to cleaning these up without making the photo look totally fixed?

3. Any other pointers anyone would like to offer! I'm still very new to the photography world and I will gladly take any advice offered!

Last weekend, Melissa and her kids came over to take some photos! I was so excited to get some more people pictures! I made a backdrop out of white muslin (it's kinda see-through, but it's better than nothing) and jigga-rigged it up in my sunny front room. We took some photos there and when the kids seemed like they were getting a bit restless, we went to the park. I had so much fun just hanging out with them. We should definitely do this more often! Mother Nature decided to show a bit of her wet, windy wrath on Friday evening. I decided to go outside and take photos. Some are a bit grainy, as I had the ISO turned all the way up. Once again, these are SOOC. As always, click photos to see the full size image.

Hello Photography World!

For those who do not already know me, my name is Jen Gribbin. I am just a regular girl with a fancy camera. :-) I'm trying to develop both my photography skills, as well as a portfolio. I started making an effort to put my camera to good use about six months ago. As I continue to take more, I will post them here for the world to see. I love comments, so please let me know what you think - good or bad! Please be constructive, though. My feelings are easily hurt. ;-)

As I'm trying to develop my portfolio, I'm constantly in search of subjects for my photos, especially human subjects. I have about a year's experience in a portrait studio, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
